Behind The Canvas 

After painting trees and landscapes for 25 years I was on the search for something new and fun. I moved to Richmond in 2017 and I spend a lot of time driving around all the old traditional neighborhoods. There is a lot of old money in Richmond and stunning mansions and homes full of gorgeous landscaping. I started noticing all the tall hedges surrounding some of the homes with only a peak of the houses over the tops. This intrigued me and I started taking photos and decided it's time for a new series. Now some of the topiary paintings are made up from my imagination. Most all my skies are my own creations and not all the houses are from Richmond after all, the possibilities are endless with so many places with beautiful hedges for inspiration.
